GB and Salomon Team rider Katie Summerhayes (15) took 3rd place in the
prestigious European Open Freeski Slopestyle event at the weekend having
qualified for the final in 1st place. This follows a 2nd place at the
Austrian Open and an 11th place at the recent Freestyle Ski World
Championships. The European Open is comparable in level to a World Cup and
was a tremendous showcase for the burgeoning talent of this young skier
from Sheffield.

In her words: "So stoked for today! 1st going into the finals but got 3rd
overall, couldn't have been on the podium with any nicer and more amazing
friends!"

Katie also took 6th place in the Halfpipe at the European Open to back up
the 14th place she took at the World Championships.

In these competitions she was up against the super stars of Slope Style and
Half Pipe Skiing and she has now shown she is the best 15 year old girl in
the World. On the basis of these results she has now been invited to the X
Games as first reserve to compete.

Katie is the highest ranked GB skier at 13 in the World for Slopestyle and
23rd for Half Pipe.
