Suffolk Skier Takes Bronze Medal at Junior World Championships

Jasmin, 18 years-old from Ipswich, started Telemark ski racing only two years ago, has risen up through the World rankings to finish off the 2011/12 season on a real high. Based in Les Houches, France during the winter months, Jasmin has been training alongside the French National Team whilst representing Great Britain on the FIS (International Ski Federation) Telemark World Cup circuit.

Jasmin said, “On the day of the Telemark Parallel Sprint I won my quarter final but lost in the semi-final which meant I went to the ‘small final’ to battle it out for third or fourth place. I was really determined to win a medal and with every ounce of strength I managed to win both legs and so finished in bronze medal position! I have been told it's a first for Great Britain, so I couldn't be more pleased and it’s so satisfying having spent endless hours last summer in the gym, cycling, running and skating: it’s all been worthwhile.”

British Team manager and Chairman of the International Committee (FIS) commented, “What fantastic news.  Jaz is on brilliant form and has trained extremely hard over the past year to give her the best opportunity on the World Cup, and to come away with a bronze medal is a terrific result is a great achievement.  Jaz is a very dedicated, focused and determined athlete who is still in the early stages of development having transferred from the alpine scene last year; she is an inspiration to all competitive skiers and proof that there is opportunity outside of alpine skiing.”

As the season draws to a finish, Jasmin will return to the UK where she will continue to train hard over the summer in preparation for next winter whilst working as a personal trainer in Ipswich. http://taylorjasmin.wordpress.com/

Finally Jasmin would like to thank her sponsors for all their support this year: Kneissl UK, Mountain Boot Company, TDS SafeGuard, Meteor Airport Parking and ChamExpress.
