Our Aims
- To encourage as many students as possible to enjoy skiing at home and abroad.
- To improve the excellence of young skiers.
- To encourage the maximum student participation in competitive inter-school races.
- To represent school skiing to all appropriate bodies concerned with education, sport and ski travel.
What does joining ESSKIA give you?
- Membership of Snowsport England, the governing body of skiing in England.
- Opportunity to develop your students’ skills and take part in the sport of skiing.
- Entry to the National Artificial Ski Slope Championships.
- 6 area qualifying races in September. National finals in October.
- Opportunities for selected skiers to train at home and abroad in ESSKIA Squads and Teams
- Staff training for Ski Course Organiser (SCO) and Race Official’s courses
- Snowsport England insurance cover.
- Advice and information for ski trips, races and skiing in the National Curriculum.
Racing
School Teams:
- Area Qualifying Races (6 area races throughout England)
- 4 age groups; U12, U14, U16, U19
National Finals:
- For qualifying teams
For selected racers:
- ISF World Schools Skiing Championships (Biennial for skiers selected from ESSKIA Squad Training groups)
Training
- Summer Training/Promotion Days (7 different venues throughout the Country)
- Squad Training Days in England
- Junior Squad Training Camps: Pitztal, Austria
- Senior Squad Training Camps: Geilo, Norway.
