For many, ski touring is the purest form of skiing.

This activity originally started thousands of years ago as prehistoric rock paintings found in Scandinavia depict skiing figures - the only way to travel and hunt in Scandinavia during the winter months.

Today, the tradition (the travelling, not the hunting) is carried on by those skiers who shoulder a rucksack and head off into the hills on a multi-day tour - be it Scotland, Scandinavia, or the Rockies.
