Rollerski 1-day course - Castle Combe
On Sunday 2 September we'll be at the famous Castle Combe racecourse in Wiltshire, for a 1-day rollerski course. This is a chance to learn the skills of rollerskiing, amid beautiful scenery, and on the excellent tarmac of the motor racing track (which falls silent for one day).
We will be there as guests of the Wessex Biathlon & Nordic Ski Club - the region's most distinguished cross-country ski / rollerski club - which will be running their annual Sprints race on the same day. (If you are on the course, you can watch - no pressure to take part!) There'll also be a number of cross-country ski shops in attendance, selling next season's latest ski equipment.
Following the same format as our Dorney courses, the day offers the chance to learn the basics of rollerskiing in the classic and skating technique, or to improve existing skills.
As with all our instruction, the emphasis is on teaching with cross-country skiing in mind, so you can transfer your skills onto snow - and enjoy the thrills of cross-country skiing, ski touring and cross country ski racing all the more.
We focus on developing good balance on rollerskis, and will cover the basic 'gears' of classic and skating techniques. We provide all the equipment you need - skis, poles, boots, kneepads.
The skating course takes you through the essential elements of the three skating 'gears' - skate 1, skate 2 and skate 3 as well as double poling. On classic we will go through the gears of diagonal stride, kick double pole and double poling. We work hard to develop good balance and body positions. We hope you'll continue on rollerskis and snow!
The day runs from 10am to 4pm. Course costs £57, including equipment hire or £47 excluding equipment hire. There is a cafe on-site where you can purchase lunch and snacks. Click here for directions
