The programme must be read in conjunction with the Nordic Coaching Scheme Outline Syllabus.

This course does not qualify holders of the award to provide instruction in other disciplines unless additionally qualified to do so.

Prerequisites for Attendance:

  • Candidates must be at least 18 years old
  • Be registered with the Coaching Scheme of Snowsport England, or another Home Nation
  • Have a minimum of 30 days Nordic skiing experience, recorded in their Log Book, of which at least 10 days must be on snow and 20 hours on roller skis/Nordic matting
  • Hold a Snowsport England Nordic Proficiency Award (Star level 3), or be able to demonstrate a similar level of skiing ability
  • Hold a valid First Aid certificate

Assessment:
Candidates are assessed by the Course Tutor on both personal skiing and instructional techniques. A written test and/or oral presentation may be included.

Tutors are required to provide feedback and advice as to future work to be undertaken by participants propos their own skiing and instructional techniques.

Revalidation
Holders of this award are required to re-validate their qualification by attending a Nordic Instructor Refresher course on a three-yearly basis, and by maintaining their First Aid qualification.
