The English Alpine Championships is Snowsport England’s premier event and is held in Bormio, Italy during February half term each year. The event is run by a team of over 20 volunteers. The organising committee is looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the team as a social media specialist.

What does the job involve?

The job involves using the Snowsport England social media channels (Facebook page, a twitter feed and an Instagram account, as well as the website,) to give extensive coverage of the championships as well as to provide detailed information for competitors and spectators in resort.

The activities consist of (but are not limited to): Scheduling race-related information across all the channels, liaising with the SE comms lead to publish press-releases on the websites and all channels, provide visually engaging content of the races each day – including visual updates and live coverage of races each day, provide visual content on each day’s race winners for the social media channels (e.g. photos of the podiums & social media graphics).

We would also ask you to liaise with the Comms Lead in the run up to the championships to assist in creating the social media comms plan for the champs.

It’s a very busy but rewarding week, and you’ll need to be prepared to work hard to assist in providing the high-quality social media coverage of the champs that Snowsport England are renowned for.

What does SE cover?

All travel, hotel and meals are paid for, so apart from drinks, personal insurance and a lot of calories it isn’t going to cost you much! SE will also cover the costs of using data abroad in one way or another.

What do you get out of it?

If you are prepared to give up a week of your time, in return you will get the chance to be a part of one of the biggest events on the British Alpine ski calendar. You’ll be able to develop your social media experience in an events capacity, and be able to demonstrate to future recruiters your ability to develop and implement a communications plan, to effectively manage social channels, as well as create engaging content to fit into this plan.

It’s an incredibly fun week in the mountains, and you get to be part of a hard-working and enthusiastic team that take pride in the work they’re doing.
