The Futures Project supports and encourages young people aged 6-18 to get involved in snowsports and develop their skiing and snowboarding skills.
Snowsport England, Snowsport Scotland and Snowsport Wales work closely together to deliver the Futures Project in line with the GB Park and Pipe Team ethos – fun, passion, progression and collaboration. The Project is made up of the Futures Snow Award and Futures Sessions.
The Futures Sessions offer young people the opportunity to join in coached freestyle ski and snowboard sessions across the UK – these sessions are a great way to learn new tricks!
2023 Futures Championships!
Following the success of the first event Snowsport England Futures Championship held last September, we are eagerly anticipating this years’ event at Norfolk Snowsports Centre, where over 60 different skiers and snowboarders are expected to gather for a weekend of Ski & Snowboard Cross, Moguls, Ski & Snowboard Slopestyle and Parallel SL.
The weekend is jam packed full of exciting training and competition events, with the training day on Saturday 30th September providing skiers and snowboarders the opportunity to take part in sessions throughout the day, giving everyone the chance to either try a new discipline or hone their existing skills. Be it Cross racing, freestyle or moguls, both skiers and snowboarders are welcomed to get involved with expert tuition from Snowsport England discipline coaches. The training sessions are open for those taking part in Sundays Futures Championships events as well as those who just fancy trying a new discipline or having fun on the slope with their friends – just make sure you sign up via the Snowsport England website in advance in order to guarantee your spot!
After an action packed training day, on the Saturday night the Futures Parallel SL Championships takes place, with a fresh tweak on the dual slalom format seeing skiers and snowboarders racing head to head over a range of features and around panel gates, along with tunes and food provided by Norfolk Centre..
On the Sunday 1st October, the Futures Championship events continue to take place, with the morning programme featuring the hotly contested Futures Ski Cross and Futures Snowboard Cross Championships. Last years events saw plenty of exciting side by side racing, as freestyle and alpine racers went head to head in the knock out format competition over a selection of kickers, banks, turns, rolls and waves. After lunch, the Futures Moguls Championships takes place, and is then followed by the Futures Slopestyle Championships from 2.00-5.00pm and always provides an unbelievable spectacle as competitors show off the tricks they’ve learnt from the Saturdays training.
