An exciting new Ski Cross initiative, building on the successful Futures Sessions, is being launched and delivered in partnership with Snowsport England and GB Snowsport this summer.

Starting with a series of events at one of the official Snowsport England Futures hubs at Norfolk Snowsports Centre, the initiative is open to both athletes who are completely new to ski cross and to those that have already competed. Across the initial events, groups will be split by ability, with a competition planned for the autumn.

This is a great opportunity for development if you are an Alpine or Freestyle athlete and are looking to try something new or to expand your existing skills into the adrenaline packed world of ski cross.

“I love the adrenaline and excitement of head-to-head racing. Anything can happen in such an unpredictable sport. That’s why I decided to focus solely on ski cross.” Ollie Davies, GBS World Cup and Olympic Ski Cross Athlete

Ski Cross is head-to-head racing around courses which typically incorporate terrain features traditionally found in freestyle skiing, including big-air jumps and high-banked turns. Ski Cross is considered a freestyle discipline, but utilises alpine skills, and so is open to competitors from every background to get involved. What sets ski cross apart from other alpine skiing disciplines is that it involves more than one skier racing down the course, often leading to exciting overtakes and photo-finishes.These are the dates for the new Snowsport England Ski Cross Futures Sessions, the cost is £40 and they will run from 10am – 4pm. There are 25 places available for each session. If you’re interested in taking part, please book here Freestyle | Sport:80 (sport80.com).
