The National Schools Snowsports Association (NSSA) is hosting its British Schools Alpine Open Championships after a year’s absence. The competition will take place in February and with entry already open, this looks to be a highlight of the schools alpine calendar with training held over the early weekdays and three race days later in the week.
The event is open to all schools, with entry deadline on February 5th 2022. Late entry fees apply after this.
The races will be run along the same accessible lines as the National Schools Series with the fastest of 2 (or 3, depending on entry numbers) runs to count, meaning that even if racers don’t finish one run, they have the ability to still get a result.
The event will include a giant slalom race for all ages and a slalom for U14’s and above with a Kombi for U10/U12 age groups. The final day will see the popular Parallel, or head to head, event with entry numbers dictating whether this runs as an individual or team event.
The event runs on the 9-11 February 2022, with open training on the 6-8 February and race support on race days (must be booked in advance).
The NSSA Championships take place in Pila, Italy. The resort is situated in the Aosta Valley region of northern Italy and was chosen due to its accessibility – within two hours of Geneva or Milan and an hour from Turin and Chamonix.
