Members of the Snowsport England Park & Pipe Academy attend a series of FIS Slopestyle Events at Snozone, Madrid in Spain this past weekend. The FIS sanctioned events provided a fantastic stepping stone from the UK domes to international competition as many athletes prepare to head back to the mountains after a challenging 18 months.

With the dome being larger than the UK domes, there was the opportunity to link together longer runs and try out new tricks in competition ahead of the winter.

10 British athletes took part in the two slopestyle events across both snowboard and freeski with excellent results across the board.

Mason Ferebee was on fine form taking the win in both Saturday and Sunday’s competition picking up valuable FIS points along the way.

In their first FIS competition, Ash Clayton took home a 3rd place on Saturday and improved on that on Sunday with a 2nd place finish.

A huge congratulations to both athletes for their podium performances in strong international fields.

Snowboarder Sophie Smith picked up two 5th place results over the weekend in her FIS level event.

With most of the athletes competing in their first FIS events of their career it was a positive and enjoyable experience for all the athletes. All the athletes worked hard throughout the weekend and landed their runs under pressure when competing against such a high level of competitors, a massive achievement.

Well done to everyone who competed and a big thank you to head coach Rob Taylor for his work on the planning of the camp and the coaching over the weekend.
